Robert David Shannon

Robert “Bob” David Shannon, 90, of Bryan, passed away November 24th, 2013 at Hudson Creek Assisted Living. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a future date. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.

Bob was born August 3rd, 1923 in Shidler to Hobart and Veda Shannon, and graduated high school in Nowata, Oklahoma. He attended Coffeyville Junior College on a football scholarship, and in 1942 he joined the Navy and received his “wings” on VJ Day. He received a degree in Electrical Engineering from OSU, where he also met and married his wife, Jeanne.

Bob began working for Boeing Aircraft in 1949 and worked on many high profile projects including stealth technology and has several patents to his name. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and sailing, and he even built his own sailboat.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Norma Shannon; son, Robert David Shannon Jr; and his parents.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Bonnie Shannon, Craig and Monica Shannon; daughter, Kathleen Trees; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Covenant Presbyterian Church in College Station.
