Robert Dean Taylor, M.D., 80, passed away in his home surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be at the home from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2007.

Robert was born August 14, 1926 in Wichita, Kan. He graduated from Duncan High School in 1944. He attended the University of Oklahoma for two years and graduated from Union College in Lincoln, Neb., in 1948. Then followed four years of study at College Medical Evangelists School of Medicine in Loma Linda, Calif. He interned at Charity Hospital in New Orleans from 1952 to 1953. Dr. Taylor was a resident surgeon and obstetrician at South Mississippi Charity Hospital in Laurel, Miss., during the next year. He was called to service by the Navy and served at San Diego Naval Hospital at Port Hueneme Station Hospital as an obstetrician and gynecologist. This is where he met his wife, Mary Ann Stine, who was a civilian nurse for the Navy. They were married December 11, 1955.

He opened a medical practice with his father, E.E. Taylor, in Duncan, Okla., in 1956. He practiced there for 20 years, and then he moved to Bryan in 1977 and worked as a physician at Beutel Health Center at Texas A-M University. He practiced at the university for 10 years and retired to enjoy golfing and gardening. He was also an avid reader of history and economics.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary Ann Taylor; his son, Christopher Taylor of Salt Lake City, Utah, and his daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter, Kenneth and Allison Davison and Leah of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.

Dear Taylor family,

My family loved Dr. Taylor more than words can express. My parents still live in Duncan. He was our family physician in Duncan for over 20 years. We still talk about him fondly. He was amazing.
My God grant you comfort at this time of your sorrow.
