Russell Vandivort

Condolences

  1. May you find comfort in the memories that are yours to cherish always, and strength in the companionship of those who share your loss…. I have learned never to underestimate the healing power we all have. It is always there to be used for the highest good. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. (Matthew 5:4) May it be a source of inner strength to know that there’s a loving God watching over you, and that, throughout this time of need, He’ll stay close by your side. All those sleeping in their graves will wake up and sing for joy. As the sparkling dew refreshes the earth, so the Lord will revive those who have long been dead.’-Isa. 26:19.

  2. Our family met Russell through Holy Name of Mary in Austin. We left there in 1993. My son was just entering high school at that time. When I informed him of Russell’s death, he said that he remembered him as a man who always prayed. The just shall be in everlasting rememberance, he shall not fear evil tidings. Memory eternal, Russell, Memory eternal. The Woodruff-Rainbolts

  3. I still miss Russell and think of him often. We met in college and to this day, he’s the best guitarist I’ve ever known personally. He could make the guitar talk. And even then, he was very concerned with spiritual matters — I remember him telling me about a book he was reading, The Cloud of Unknowing — a spiritual guide on contemplative prayer written in the late Middle Ages. Russell, you are missed.
