Shirley Patricia “Pat” Reed
January 3, 1938 – December 18, 2013
Shirley Patricia Reed, 75, of Bryan, passed away Wednesday December 18, 2013. The family will receive guests during visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan. A Memorial Service is set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 22, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Bryan.
Pat was born January 3, 1938 in Hubbard, Texas, to Crawford and Stella Smith. She attended Texas Tech University where she met her husband, Delbert Winston Reed, whom she married on June 11, 1961. She has lived in this area since 1969.
Pat was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Bryan and served as a Sunday School Teacher for more than twenty years. She served as President of the Area I Young Homemakers Association and enjoyed traveling, reading, baking and crafts. Pat was a math teacher for thirty five years, thirty one of which were with Bryan Independent School District.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Delbert Reed; daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Gary VanDeventer, Rebecca (Becky) and Mark Bushkuhl; and grandchildren, Morgan and Shelby VanDeventer, and Reed and Cade Bushkuhl.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice Brazos Valley at 502 W. 26th St., Bryan, TX 77803 or First Baptist Church, 3100 Cambridge Dr., Bryan, TX 77802.
