Steven Joashua Yeager

Steven Joashua Yeager
May 16, 1975 – December 29, 2019

Steven Joashua Yeager, 44, of College Station, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019, in College Station. A Life Tribute Celebration is set for 2 pm, Friday, January 3, 2020, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center, 3001 South College Avenue, Bryan, officiated by Dawn Lee Wakefield, Certified Life Celebrant.

He was born May 16, 1975, in Bryan, Texas, to James D. “Danny” Yeager and Rhonda Kay (Cates) Carpenter. He completed his high school education in Bryan schools, where he also learned to love playing every sport athletics had to offer. Growing up, Steven could always be found being outdoors, enjoying the sunshine and any sport. He loved and was especially talented in football.

Love for the outdoors continued into adulthood, and weekends afforded Steven and his brother Collin opportunities to enter fishing tournaments, where they both succeeded and enjoyed the chance to spend time together. Important times included the opening of hunting season, any time spent watching the Texas Aggies football team and visiting Kyle Field.

Steven learned a strong work ethic firsthand from his family; essentially, for as long as he could recall, he’d grown up on construction job sites. Learning the fundamentals and artistry of bricklaying from his grandfather, his father, and his uncles led him to follow in the family masonry profession.

Steven excelled as a bricklayer—he was a respected and valued associate in his work with Boenigk Masonry for many years. Away from the job, you could also always count on Steven to take on any jobs his family needed. All they had to do was call him and he’d be right there to help.

Steven was preceded in death by his grandparents, Billy Sr. and Margaret Cates, James and Violet Yeager; birth father, Danny Yeager; second father, Ted Carpenter; his father and mother-in-law, David and Carol Schubert; his sister-in-law, Teresa Mikulec,  his uncles; Mike Cates and Dusty Cates; aunts, Judy Janac and Carolyn Watson.

Steven is survived by his wife of 21 years, Susan Schubert Yeager, two daughters; Kayla, and Ashley Yeager, Grandson; Mason, his mother; Kay Carpenter, brother, Collin (Rachael) Yeager, Clint Yeager, and sisters, Michelle Yeager, Marylou Carpenter, Bonnie (Daniel) Orr, Jacquelyn (Jason) Dodson; aunt, Patty Swoboda Bigi; aunt, Rose Cates; uncle, Johnny (Ann) Yeager; uncle, Joe Janac, numerous cousins, additional relatives and friends.
