Mike and Nicole – I am so sorry to hear about your Dad passing. You probably remember me – I was a Ph.D. student of his from 1988 – 1991. Your Dad was a major influence in my life. I hope the best for you, and both myself and my two girls (Kathy and Kris) have many wonderful memories of sitting around the pool with your Dad, your Mom, and you. I wish you the best, and will keep all of you in my prayers.

My condolences to the family. I remember Dr. Pooch as an instructor and advisor. His classes were tough but fair. He was a strong funding driver, and brought in many grants that helped the department and also helped many students through the degree program. Although he was not on my Ph.D. committee, I recall his advice was friendly. He had a good sense of humor. At the end of one of our classes in the summer, he hosted a pool party at his house. To me, that represented his spirit of sharing and fun. And that party is one of my best memories of Texas A&M and the camaraderie in the computer science department.

Udo was my teacher, my graduate advisor and my friend. I will miss him. I spent many hours with him on campus and at his home with his parents, his beloved wife and his children. He had a big heart. Rest in peace.
