Alice Virginia Schwart

Alice Virginia Wilson was born November 6, 1920 on a farm near Sunbury, in Delaware County, Ohio. Her parents were Verne Wilson and Mary Grace King Wilson. Virginia grew up on a farm near Good Hope in Fayette County, Ohio. She graduated from Wayne Township High School in Fayette County, and attended The Ohio State University in Columbus.

Virginia married Lt. Robert B. Schwart, October 21, 1942 in Williams, Arizona. They were married for 64 years. After World War II, Bob and Virginia had three children, Robert B. Jr. (Bud), Marilyn Ann, and Joanne Lynn

From September 1953 to June 1959 the Schwart family lived in Columbus, OH. While living in Columbus, Virginia was a homemaker and a nursery school teacher.

In 1959, Bob, Virginia and family moved to Urbana, Illinois; Virginia remained in the Champaign Urbana Savoy area for nearly 50 years. From Summer 1968 through Summer 1970, Bob and Virginia lived in Utter Pradesh, India. In 2009 Virginia moved to Bryan, Texas.

In Urbana, she continued as a homemaker and a nursery school teacher. Later, she worked as a teacher’s aide for the English Department at Urbana High school. Besides her family and cooking, Virginia enjoyed sewing and playing her electric organ.

In retirement, Bob and Virginia enjoyed ballroom dancing and travel. They had visited most of the United States, several Canadian provinces, and over 15 countries. They participated in several ballroom dancing travel tours including a ballroom dancing river cruise down the Danube River.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Vernon, her bother Laurin, her sister, Marilyn Mallow, her husband, Bob, her daughter Marilyn Ann, her daughter Joanne, and a daughter in law Nancy. Virginia is survived by her son Robert Jr. (Bud), and daughter in law Sandra Lewellen, four grandchildren, and their spouses, nine great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and their spouses, and six step great grandchildren. She is also survived by eight nephews and nieces, and their spouses, and numerous grand and great grand nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held Friday January 19, 2018, 2:30 PM in the chapel at Arbor Oaks Crestview MRC 2505 E. Villa Maria Rd., Bryan. Cremains will be interred in Wayne Township Cemetery (Good Hope), Washington Court House, OH. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the charity of your choice, or Crestview Retirement Community Foundation, Bryan TX, First United Methodist Church, Bryan, TX, or Hospice Brazos Valley, Bryan, TX.
