Walter Brandstetter

Walter Brandstetter, 87, and Josephine Brandstetter, 85, both of Crockett, passed away, December 12, 2013 and November 27, 2013, respectively. A memorial service celebrating both their lives is set for 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the St. Francis Church in Crockett, Texas. Per their wishes, Walter and Josephine’s bodies have been donated to Medical Research at Texas A&M University.

Walter was born November 20, 1926, in Coleman, Texas, to Walter and Clyde Brandstetter. After joining the Air Force at 17 years old, he served during the Japan Reconstruction, and retired from the Air Force Reserve as Lt. Colonel.

He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1946 and later received a Masters Degree in Social Services from the University of Texas in 1965. Walter was a Social Worker for the State of Texas and volunteered and served for numerous organizations including; Crockett Jaycees, Board of Directors of the Crockett Senior Citizens Council, President of the Beekeepers Association, and President of the Square Dancing Club. He was also a member of St. Francis of the Tejas Parish in Crockett.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Josephine Brandstetter.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Joel and Brenda Brandstetter, Edward and Cathy Brandstetter; brothers, Hubert and Curtis Brandstetter; grandchildren, Alicia, Kyle, Nicholas; and four great grandchildren.
