William “Bill” O’Brien

William “Bill” O’Brien, 57, of Bryan, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at his residence. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 11, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan. Funeral Services are set for 10 a.m., Saturday, June 12, at the funeral home, with Rev. Henry Stovall officiating. Interment will follow at Macy Cemetery.

Bill was born December 12, 1952, in Houston, Texas, to Eben and Mildred O’Brien. He attended St. Thomas High School in Houston, and in 1976 he graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife and Fisheries. On July 15, 2000, Bill married his wife, Becky Charlene O’Brien.

He worked as a general contractor and he was a rancher with his own cattle brand. Bill was loved by many and respected by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister-in-law, Beverly O’Brien.

Survivors include his wife, Becky O’Brien, of Bryan, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy Joe Stratta, of Bryan, Texas, Chris and Lisa Stratta, of Little Elm, Texas, Barry and Sarah Stratta, of College Station, Texas, brother, Mike O’Brien and his fiancé Gloria Smith, both of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Joey, Summer, Charlie, Preston, and Maddie Stratta; and his lifelong friend, Larry Linbeck, of Houston, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in Bill’s honor to the American Diabetes Association at PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
